Giant Sequoia’s in California

Making our way to Las Vegas for a family wedding, we stopped for a few days in Tulare County near Porterville at a Corp of Engineers campground at Lake Success. Our goal was to explore the southern unit of the Giant Sequoia National Monument. This area is home to some of the biggest and oldest giant sequoia specimens in the world. Many of them have been named. Hercules, Methuselah, Adam, Euclid and Great Bonsai to name a few. No drive-through tree here – that’s up in the northern unit.
